History

The vineyard tradition of the Itata valley starts with the origin of Chile, when the Spanish colonization expanded towards the south of the territory and the first vines began to cover the soft hills of the zone.
Don Gonzalo Casanueva began the family tradition more than 100 years ago with the winegrower production in the region, until it was abruptly interrupted by the 1939 earthquake, that destroyed his warehouses and production.
Almost 60 years later, his son, Hugo picked up the tradition, renovating the family interest for wine production, through the incorporation of new stock, technology and serious and rigorous work, which allowed for the reconstruction of the family inheritance.
Today, the third generation of the Casanuevas, led by Patricio, manufactures and produces wines that express the bold and the innovative of the family and that is intensely reflected in Cavas Submarinas, a unique product that incorporates into each bottle the best of the terroir and ocean influence.
